Cutting Moments is a 1997 film by Douglas Buck. Buck also penned "Terror Firmer" but I won't hold that against him here simply because "Cutting Moments" is such a fine film. It will generally be current films that get the nod for Horror Short Of The Month, but this is such a classic that it deserves some
recognition here.

The film was part of a "Cutting Moments" compilation at one point but is largely found these days as part of Buck's "Family Portraits: A Trilogy Of America" DVD. Some of the other movies that "Cutting Moments" has been paired with are entertaining, but none hit the viewer nearly as hard.
To sum the film up, Cutting Moments tells a relatively complex story in a very short running time (approx. 25 minutes). Buck does an excellent job of showing the dysfunction in this family without going over the top in the early parts of the film.
The latter part of the film, however, is one of the most brutal pieces of filmmaking that you will ever see. Brutal not just because of the blood, but because of its' realism and matter of fact style.
